Durga Puja is a term synonymous with Bengal and Bengalis. As autumn sets in and there is a smell of festivity in the air and gaiety in our hearts, we usher in the Mother Goddess, the harbinger of all things good and the defeater of all evil. It is the Festival of Festivals, a celebration of history, art, culture, music, food, community cooperation and happiness that transcends age, generation, gender and race. Celebrated with a pomp and fervor seen in very few places across the world, it is comparable to the likes of the Rio Carnival, the San Fermin festival of Pamplona or the Venice Carnival.

Can Durga Puja, the mother of all spectacles and an immortal imagery of Incredible India, be bettered? Can it be taken to a whole new level of international visibility? Can its incredible energy be aggregated for the greater good?

Yes, we think so!

In a nutshell, thats exactly what SharodInfo is all about. Our idea is simple. Sharodinfo endeavors to unite the energy, the colour and the goodwill behind Durga Pujas held all across the world under one roof.

The contemporary form of each and every Puja carries with it a legacy from the past, a history, which is held onto only through a fragile word-of-mouth. This is what we would like to tell the world - the legacy that you are proud of, the story behind your Puja, the continuum of the living tradition, and position it internationally. It is this story and the festivity that binds together generations, be it a North Kolkata Bonedi Bari, a temple in Dhaka, a sarbojonin Puja in Delhi, the grandiose of a South Kolkata Puja pandal or, the feeling of home away from home, at a London suburb community hall.

Our objective is to not only share with the world this grand festival but also to document and hold on to the frail oral history of the past and the modern day evolution of the individual Pujas for our children to look back at, to take pride in, and have a bonding with their roots, wherever they may live today. With this backdrop and an eagerness to give back to the community, we are passionately involved in trying to internationalize this blend of history and festivity of Sharod Utsab. We would like to collaborate with you, to tell your story, to document your history of the Puja that we together would be able to showcase to the global audience.

Our vision of Sharodinfo is the confluence of the heritage, the culture, the legacy of each Puja with the contemporary form of art, festivity and celebrations, showcased to the world through the new media of the internet.
