Tridhara Sammilani Durga Puja 2012

Theme : A Thought ... 2012

This year our thought and endeavor is taking us to the land where there is no war, no anger, terror, disturbance of turmoil. We hereby plan to take you to the land of peace and tranquility along with our artist of National repute Sri. Gouranga Kuila and hence came up with the concept of recreating the thoughts of Buddha.

The word comes from ‘budhi’, ‘to awaken’. It goes beyond religion and is more of a philosophy or ‘way of life’. It is a philosophy because it means love of wisdom’ and can be summed up as: To lead amoral life, to be mindful and aware of thoughts and actions, and to develop wisdom and understanding.

It explains a purpose to life, it explains apparent injustice and inequality around the world and it provides a code of practice or way of life that leads to true happiness.

Many may question why did we choose Buddha during the Durga Puja?

He was not God, nor did he claim to be. He was just a man who taught a path to enlightenment from his own experience. A statue of the Buddha with hands rested gently in its lap and a compassionate smile reminds us to strive to develop peace and love within ourselves. Wealth does not guarantee happiness and wealth is impermanent. The people of every country suffer whether rich or poor, life includes pain, old age, diseases, and death. We endure psychological suffering like loneliness, frustration, fear, embarrassment, disappointment and anger. These are irrefutable facts that cannot be denied, but those who understand his teachings can find true happiness tranquility and peace of mind.

Hinduism and Buddhism walk hand in hand since ages. Thousands of people of different states of India like Sikkim and countries like Sri Lanka, Bhutan & Nepal, have celebrated their cultures, beliefs and festivals together… like MaaDurga banishes the Ashura or the evil… the one and only message of all these… is being moral (through what we say, do and our livelihood), focusing the mind on being fully aware of our thoughts and actions, and developing wisdom by understanding and developing compassion for others. It teaches that the solutions to our problems are within us not outside. Each person decides for themselves and takes responsibility for their own actions and understanding. Our belief is to be accepted in its entirety, and each person should learn these goodness and use in ones life.

Then the world would become one and peace would rule allover….
